This song is entirely about my friend Jeremy who I played in bands with because he's without a doubt one of the most unique characters I knew in Waterloo. His soul literally got stuck in a body 20 years too late. His wardrobe consists of suits and shirts his grandpa bought in the fifties and early sixties. He is absolutely obsessed with prog rock and, to my knowledge has never owned a vehicle made later than 1980 (aside from our band van). Jeremy, in the time I knew him, never actually had a job and lived on whatever charity people bestowed on him. This dynamic created an endless parade of you-wouldn't-believe-it-if-I-told you incidents. Despite that financial situation, he was always acquiring music equipment (relics from a bygone era, thereamins and moog bass pedals etc). Oddly, he also somehow acquired a massive collection of vinyl prog rock albums from the sixties and seventies. He was, and remains absolutely convinced this collection is worth thousands and thousands of dollars and at one point, attempted to sell the whole thing in one fell swoop for 50 grand. To my knowledge he never did get it sold. Later he moved to Chicago and runs Karaoke (where he prominently advertises the extensive collection of Styx and Yes songs available for you to sing).
