I had an opportunity to move to Chicago and this is basically about that decision and the thoughts I had around it. Looking back it was the best decision I ever made and I sort of trusted in that when I left. I spent a good few years resenting Waterloo and everything it stood for. A lot of the reasons I had were entirely valid (there's a lot big fish in small ponds in towns like Waterloo and Cedar Falls and when you get out of the pond, you see it for what it is fairly quickly). I started getting a different perspective on my experiences there and what it meant in my life as I started traveling around the world and seeing that a lot of the struggles and attitudes there are pretty commonplace everywhere.
